Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs - Tapes & Money
Oxford’s Orlando Higginbottom has made dance music extremely fun with his prehistoric-based act ‘Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs’. Single ‘Tapes and Money’ manages to blend a plethora of dance genres together in a light-hearted manner, in order to create this infectious tune. Even though it may seem like just another enjoyable song, it has a decidedly more heartfelt side to it.
Orlando sings ‘it’s all lies/tell me another one’ which acts a snide comment on the nostalgic repetition of relationships. With its perfectly timed build ups and choruses, ‘Tapes and Money’ should soon become a dancefloor and festival favourite. The synthy bleeps and dubby wobbles keep the track pounding along, and Higginbottom’s vocals contrast well over the music. The backing shouts of ‘feet don’t fail me now’ feel as if they’ve been lifted straight from an 80s house tune, again highlighting more diverse dance influences. Although it’s hard to take him seriously in that dinosaur costume, you certainly feel some sincerity in what he’s doing. Just like the dinosaurs themselves, I think TEED will be around for a long time.
